Back problems account for a third all of worker absence in the UK. Training your staff to handle objects and people safely can reduce the risk of injury to your staff and your company’s costs in the long run. The Manual Handling Operations Regulations place a duty on every employer to reduce the potential injury from manual handling operations.
This course deals specifically with the handling of people and is relevant to healthcare workers/providers. It follows a minimal handling/lifting policy, however, it includes guidance on handling aids, supplied by the Disabled Living Foundation, and importantly risk assessment. BackCare, the charity for healthy backs, has reviewed all reference materials supplied on the course.
The course is designed for all carers who need to lift/handle people, and who have already received training in moving and handling such as the St. John Ambulance 'Moving and Handling Principles' course or similar.
