This award is designed for staff who deliver physical, emotional or enabling
care to clients who have a medium to high degree of dependency, whether
they work in health or social care, or in the public, private or voluntary sectors.
It is designed to be applicable wherever such care is delivered.
The award has links to the NVQ Level 2 Health and Social Care award, but
reflects a higher level of responsibility and specialisation. As such, it is a
potential progression route from Level 2.
The course contains four mandatory units and four optional units.
Mandatory units
- HSC 31 Promote effective communications for and about individuals
- HSC 32 Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the working environment
- HSC 33 Reflect on and develop your practice
- HSC 35 Promote choice, well-being and the protection of all individuals
There are a range of optional units available. The combination for an individual varies depending upon their work role and work setting.
On completion of this programme you may be able to progress on to NVQ Health and Social Care Level 4, if your work role is suitable.
