This Level 3 qualification reflects a higher level of responsibility and specialisation. It is designed for people who work alone or under little supervision, who plan and organise their own work without direct supervision, and who may also supervise the work of others in a number of specialist tasks. You will usally have some degree or responsibility and autonomy for your work. It is suitable for playgroup or pre-school leaders, nannies and workers in nurseries and schools such as key workers and thosefor whom the job title "nursery nurse" is usally used. You will be assessed in 9 areas, 5 of which are mandatory.
NVQs in Childrens Care & Development are seen as benchmark qualifications and people holding them are increasing demand from employers. The NVQ in Childrens Care & Development are especially designed for people who work with children in their early years and with their families. You may be in a wide range of childrens care settings and work roles whether in a full or part time, paid and voluntary, permanent or temporary capacity. You might be working in a range of settings including nurseries, playgroups, pre-schools, day nurseries, family centres and creches. It is vital that those who work with babies and children should have the highest levels of skill, training, education and experience and extensive opportunities for continuing professional development. This qualifications prove that you have demonstrated the skills and knowledge to work and support young children and their familes in most aspects of their daily lives. This award will offer you the opportunity for progression and for acknowledgement of your growing skills and knowledge.
This level 3 qualification contains 5 mandatory units and a total of 4 optional units. In order to acheive the full NVQ you must undertake all 5 mandatory units plus 4 optional unit of your choice, a total of 9 units.

On completion of this programme you will be able to progress on to the Childrens Care Learning & Development NVQ Level 4.
