Opening Up The Arts
Visual Arts Studios – Workshops – Exhibitions
Project Ability is a specialist art gallery and visual arts studio. We exhibit and sell vibrant, contemporary artworks by local and international artists with disabilities or mental health problems.
About us
Project Ability is one of Scotland’s leading specialist arts organisations. Since 1984 we have been providing a workshop and supported studio programme for people who find it difficult to attend mainstream activities.
We are based in Glasgow’s Merchant City, where we have an accessible arts studio with:
Workshop areas with professional facilities and equipment
Two galleries (open to the public) - where we exhibit and sell a diverse range of artworks by local, national and international disabled artists
Would YOU like to get involved?
If the answer is yes, then you could be joining the 300 people who take part in our different programmes each week…
If you are:
We hold art and digital film making classes after school, at weekends and during the holidays. Your brother or sister can join in the fun too!
You can take part in our workshops that run on weekdays throughout the year. Your support worker can also come along with you.
You can come to our weekly workshops and can move on to having your own supported studio space.
Our workshops are designed to suit all abilities and aspirations, so it doesn’t matter if you have never picked up a paintbrush! The professional artists who run the art classes will work with you to help you explore and develop your own individual artistic style.
Project Ability’s exhibitions showcase work from our programmes so your work may be seen in exhibitions or in film festivals throughout the UK and overseas!
Please contact us if you would like to find out more about taking part in our activities.
If you live within Glasgow some of our workshops are free, but we have to charge a fee for certain projects. We will always tell you in advance if this is the case.
