Concession for Blind People
If you or someone you live with is registered blind, you qualify to receive a 50% concession on the cost of your TV Licence. If the person who is registered blind is not the current licence holder for your address, you first need to transfer the licence into their name. To do this, call us on 0870 241 6468 and we'll talk you through what you need to do.
How much does it cost?
The blind concession gives you 50% off the cost of your TV Licence. So a colour licence will cost £65.75 and a black and white licence will cost £22.00.
How do I apply for a blind concession?
To qualify for and claim the blind concession, you will need to provide a photocopy of the certificate from your local authority* or ophthalmologist indicating that you are registered blind.
Please post this document along with your licence renewal notice (if you have one) and fee payment (by cheque or postal order), remembering to include your name, address, telephone and TV Licence numbers to TV Licensing, Blind Concession Group, Bristol BS98 1TL.
If you prefer, you can call us on 0870 241 6468 and we will send you a letter showing you how much you need to pay and other ways you can pay.
Please note that after the 31st July you will no longer be able to apply for the blind concession at the Post Office®.
