The Supporters Caring Better Network (SCB)
Connects People Supporting Carers in Mental Health in England.
- to share good practices, strategies and knowledge – to get there faster.
- to promote National Service Framework(MH) St. 6 – the Carers Standard
- and improve the lives of MH carers
It aims to achieve this by delivering :
- A national ‘Services List’ of MH Carers support – this is a feature of the website, and lists SCB members (who choose to have their details shown), and information can be displayed according to different choices.
- A web-site – www.scbnetwork.org - with the directory/services list, news & campaigns, developments, events, papers, help-lines, site links …
- A Network Newsletter, Bulletins and email circulars – key news & developments in practices, policy, campaigns, ‘Around the Network’. The Newsletters are 3-4 times a year, ‘topped up’ by bulletins (also 3-4 times a year, and email circulars (every 2-4 weeks, depending on what’s happening).
- Seminars & Conferences (locally, regionally, nationally) – are organised by the SCB, often in partnership with other organisations. The SCB can offer admin. support, publicity around the SCB (and linked networks), and sometimes funding.
- Input to national policy and campaigns – the development of mental health, social care and carers legislation simply demands as much publicity to carers, and input from carers as possible. The SCB promotes just that, using email circulars, bulletins, newsletters and attendance/finding people for events and consultations.
- Development of a National Carers Curriculum (Mental Health) – tailored training for people in all roles supporting carers in mental health. The aim is to identify/find/develop quality products to be nationally accredited, to create a standard, national, quality level of training around MH / Carers.
